“I’m a fucking movie star…”
Maxine Minx is back! In the first trailer for Ti West’s MaXXXine, we are treated to a neon vision of epic proportions.
Taking us to 1985, and set against Laura Branigan’s Self Control, we are in Los Angeles and introduced to a very different Maxine Minx.
She’s blonde, she’s ambitious, and she’s being hunted! Whilst on the audition circuit and winning a role in a slasher movie, bodies start to fall on the Universal Studios backlot. One sequence of shots shows the titular actress standing before the Bates Motel and the famous Psycho house… Needless to say, it has gotten genre fans very excited.
Dismissed as victims of The Night Stalker, AKA Richard Ramirez, something else seems to be afoot. All the victims are tied to Maxine, and the murders begin just as a private detective has tracked her down.
As Kevin Bacon swears “the past isn’t done” with Maxine, we are left wondering… Could Maxine be the one spilling the blood? Has she become so fixated on stardom that she’ll eliminate any threat or any tie to her savage past?
Giving us more than enough to pique one’s interest, and presenting a scale of epic proportions, MaXXXine promises to be an explosive end to a very successful trilogy.
MaXXXine will release on July 5th 2024 from A24 and stars Mia Goth, Lily Collins, Halsey, and Kevin Bacon.
