Maika Monroe is still riding high off the success of Longlegs, so why not add another genre project to her burgeoning scream queen crown?
No, we’re not talking about the highly-anticipated remake of The Hand that Rocks the Cradle she’s set to star in, but even more new frights from the actress.
According to reliable sources, Monroe is set to reunite with Watcher director Chloe Okuno for a vampire tale entitled Brides.
According to an official logline, Brides is described as:
“Set in 1960s Italy, Sally Bishop (Monroe) and her husband travel to a remote villa in the wake of Sally’s nervous breakdown. The villa’s owner, a mysterious count, takes a peculiar interest in Sally. But he gets far more than he anticipated when Sally’s feminist chaos is added to his perfect, violent Eden of vampire brides.”
Sounding like a period horror tale with a thoroughly modern message, it’ll be interesting to see how Brides will fare amongst the glut of other vampire tales we’ve had in recent years.
Filming is expected to begin on the project in Spring 2025, with no further cast members announced as of this writing.
Can Monroe and Okuno repeat the strong indie success they had with Watcher? We’re intrigued to find out.
