Unfortunately, Adam Wingard’s Blair Witch film did not strike a chord with fans of the 1999 original The Blair Witch Project, but Lionsgate is not yet abandoning all hope. The studio hopes to revisit the Blair Witch once again and, this time, it will be in the form of a TV series.
It is unclear what route the TV series will take, whether it will be found footage or in what period of time it will be set. Will it continue the events of Blair Witch? Will it re-tell the original 1999 story again or will it perhaps go further into the future? It could even go waa-ay back in time and explore events before 1999. The mind boggles with the possibilities!
I was a huge fan of Blair Witch – unpopular opinion, I know – and I think it’s disappointing that we probably won’t be getting a second sequel. Alas, this new TV series sounds intriguing, so let’s hope the cast and crew that Lionsgate hire are top-notch.
