Lionsgate are in the final talks for acquiring the vampire flick The French Quarter Will Not Be Spared and it comes from scribe Anthony Jaswinski (pictured right), the writer of 2016’s excellent and intense The Shallows. He has also written the script for 2016’s Satanic, the upcoming TV movie A Midsummer’s Nightmare and Michael Goi’s anticipated horror Mary.
We don’t have a lot of information about the script, but courtesy of Deadline we do have the following details:
It is said to be a new take on the vampire genre set in New Orleans during hurricane Katrina. The goal is to make a visceral and socially relevant horror film in the vein of A Quiet Place or Get Out.
A socially-relevant new take on the vampire genre sounds pretty great, so I’ll be keeping my eyes out for more on this one and you should, too.
