LIONSGATE DROPS FIRST TRAILER FOR “COBWEB”

Posted on: June 21st, 2023

“Sometimes family secrets creep out…”

Lionsgate have dropped the first trailer for the much-anticipated Cobweb, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Starring Castle Rock’s Lizzy Caplan and Anthony Starr of The Boys, Cobweb sees Samuel Bodin, creator of Netflix horror show Marianne, take his first stab at a genre feature.

Promising old dark house thrills aplenty, the trailer immediately captures an atmosphere reminiscent of Tim Burton at his gothic best. Caplan and Starr excel as parents teetering just on the edge of sinister, as they implore their young son to “stop having nightmares.” The young boy is constantly bothered by an eerie tapping night after night from inside his bedroom wall, that his oddly-threatening parents insist isn’t real.

Also bringing their A-game to this very promising looking feature are Woody Norman as the troubled young Peter and Cleopatra Coleman as his concerned teacher Miss Devine. Norman spends the short clip being terrorised by knocking, gaslit by his robot-like parents and giving ridiculously convincing frightened looks and yelps. Coleman seems the only one concerned for the young boy, as she consults his nonchalant parents over disturbing drawings and even pays a home visit. It is during this home visit we witness Miss Devine hear the mysterious knocking, as a taloned hand reaches out for her leg.

Produced by the team behind Barbarian, most notably Seth Rogan, Cobweb looks to offer incredible production value and a frigid but fantastic Halloween setting.

The film is set to release on July 21st 2023 and we hope it does well. What secrets are these sinister parents hiding? You can get your first taste by viewing the trailer below:
