This week sees the release of Spanish filmmaker Luis Prieto’s (Pusher, Kidnap) latest feature film, Shattered: an adrenaline-fuelled serpentine shocker that shares much in common with much-loved cult classics such as Misery or Fatal Attraction whilst spinning every trope in the book on its head.
Penned by David Loughery (Lakeview Terrace, The Intruder), and starring Lilly Krug (soon to star alongside Gerard Butler, Daniella Pineda and Mike Colter in The Plane), Cameron Monaghan (“Shameless”), Frank Grillo (Copshop, Donnybrook), Sasha Luss (Anna), and John Malkovich (Con Air, RED), Shattered follows lonesome millionaire Chris (Monaghan) who, amidst the turmoil of going through a divorce, bumps into the charming and sexy Sky (Krug) in his local supermarket. The two hit it off instantly and when Chris gets injured in a tussle, she quickly steps in as his nurse. But with Sky’s behaviour becoming increasingly suspicious, it soon becomes apparent that her intentions aren’t as friendly as they might have first appeared, especially when Sky’s roommate is found dead from mysterious causes.
Shattered releases in select theatres, On Digital and On-demand today, 14 January, 2022 and SCREAM caught up with one of the film’s leads, Krug to discuss deep-diving into the psychology and physicality of her character to mould a truly authentic villain which we are sure will turn out to be a huge breakout role for this diligent and talented rising star.
