John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 2004 novel Let the Right One In has already had two film adaptations, but it may soon come to the small screen as well. Showtime recently ordered a pilot episode, and the first casting news is starting to trickle out of the project.
Demián Bichir (The Nun) is attached to star, and Anika Noni Rose (Them) has just joined the cast. Seith Mann (Homeland) will direct the pilot, with Andrew Hinderaker (Penny Dreadful) serving as showrunner.
According to Deadline, the series will follow a father (Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor, whose lives were changed forever when she was turned into a vampire at age 12. A decade later, Eleanor is living a closeted life, going out only at night, with her father doing his best to provide the minimal amount of human blood she needs to stay alive.
Rose will play Naomi, a brilliant but cynical homicide detective and single mother. She would do anything for her son Isaiah, who soon befriends the young girl who’s just moved in next door. Soon enough though, Naomi begins to suspect that something is off about the new neighbours…
