Well, colour us intrigued in the Universal Monsters reboots once again. After the disaster of The Mummy, we thought that’d be it for the franchise and hopes for more re-imaginings, but apparently not. All hope is not lost. We hope.
We last heard that the Universal Dark Universe was to focus on individual directors and their unique visions for the films, so it looks like they’re sticking with this. Leigh Whannell has been hired to direct The Invisible Man and he is an excellent choice. As one of the creators of Saw and the director of Insidious Chapter: 3 and last year’s impressive Upgrade, he will hopefully bring a visual flair and intensity to the story.
Johnny Depp was previously attached to star in the film, but there is no word on whether he will “appear”. Har har.
