KimStim Films is planning to bring Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s (Pulse) latest supernatural horror flick Creepy in the USA. Even though we weren’t mad keen on the film ourselves, we are always glad to see horror cinema from around the world getting the opportunity to screen for audiences in America, the UK and elsewhere around the globe. Hopefully those of us on this side of the pond will be able to get our hands on the film soon.
Synopsis:
Takakura (Hidetoshi Nishijima) is a former detective. He receives a request from his ex-colleague, Nogami (Masahiro Higashide), to examine a missing family case that occurred 6 years earlier. Takakura follows Saki’s (Kawaguchi) memory. She is the only surviving family member from the case.
Meanwhile, Takakura and his wife Yasuko (Yuko Takeuchi) recently moved into a new home. Their neighbor, Nishino (Teruyuki Kagawa), has a sick wife and a young teen daughter. One day, the daughter, Mio, jumps into Takakura’s house and tells him that the man is not her father and she doesn’t know him at all.
Creepy stars Hidetoshi Nishijima, Yuko Takeuchi (The Ring) and Teruyuki Kagawa and will be released in limited US cinemas on 21st October, so will be the perfect Halloween treat. It may not be a perfect film, but it’s filled with a host of great characters and there is some excellent visual work in there so it’s well worth a watch.
