With Scream 7 dominating the box-office, it’s a great time for director Kevin Williamson.
Now, the filmmaker has confirmed he’s next due to work on a television series set in Universal’s classic “monster-verse.”
Speaking recently, Williamson said:
“Netflix and Universal were very kind to let me go direct Scream 7 and put some projects on hold, and now I’m focused on those.”
Describing the show, Williamson elaborated:
“The one I’m writing right now is a show. You might call it an adult ‘Vampire Diaries.’ It’s based in the Universal monster land. I get to play with some of those characters like Dracula and Frankenstein and the Wolf Man and have fun there.”
Williamson’s series is the latest in a slew of projects that aim to bring Universal’s classic monster universe back to life.
The movement began with 2020’s The Invisible Man, and continued with 2025’s Wolf Man. 2026 will see Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride and Lee Cronin’s The Mummy continue the trend.
Although Williamson dropped few details about his television project, the inclusion of so many iconic villains suggests it will be similar to House of Dracula or House of Frankenstein.
Given Williamson’s impressive history in television, we have faith that he’ll repeat that success bringing the Universal monsters to the small screen.
Stay tuned for further updates!
