A24 and Peacock are teaming up with Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) to create a new Friday the 13th prequel series called Crystal Lake—and some interesting new details about the project have emerged!
At a recent screening of Friday the 13th Part III, Fuller announced that Kevin Williamson is writing an episode. Williamson penned the first two Scream movies, as well as the recently released pandemic-set slasher Sick, so we can’t wait to see what he adds to this iconic slasher franchise.
That’s not all—Friday the 13th original final girl, Adrienne King, will star in the series in a recurring role! It’s unclear at this time if King will be reprising the role of Alice Hardy or playing a new character, but either way, we’re excited.
Peacock gave Crystal Lake a straight-to-series order last year. The small-screen series is described as an “expanded prequel” to the beloved film franchise. Fuller serves as showrunner and executive producer on the series. Also executive producing is Victor Miller, writer of the original Friday the 13th film, alongside Marc Toberoff, Rob Barsamian, and A24.
Writing on Crystal Lake is slated to begin soon. We’ll bring you more updates as we hear them!
