With Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan departing The Walking Dead, it has seemed like the upcoming season 9 is going to be nothing more than doom and gloom. However, it is now being reported that the Punisher star Jon Bernthal is to return to the series. It has been confirmed that he will be starring the just 1 episode and we’re anticipating a flashback scene or, perhaps if this has more to do with Rick (Lincoln), a moment of hallucinatory insanity.
Lincoln and Cohan will only be filming a few episodes, so will not make it to the end of season 9. Whether the pair will vacate together or separately, alive or dead, is yet to be known. Audience numbers have been dwindling for The Walking Dead, but with Cohan and Lincoln’s exits –plus the return of Bernthal – on the horizon, we’re expecting viewers to tune in in their [zombie] hoards.
Bernthal last starred as Shane in TWD back in 2012 and was “zombified” by Carl Grimes. So, he’s pretty much dead. It’ll be interesting to see how he returns to the show later this year, so be sure to tune in to Season 9 from this coming autumn.
