In what was quite the unexpected move, the good folks at Trick or Treat Studios announced last week that John Carpenter’s horror classic Halloween will be adapted into a playable table-top game.
Described by the company as a three to four player experience, and taking at least 60 minutes to complete, this sounds like the perfect way to spend a quiet Halloween night with friends.
One player must assume the mantel of Michael Myers and hunt down the other players as they scramble for weapons to ensure their survival. Besides the infamous Boogeyman, players can choose from Laurie Strode, Sam Loomis, Sheriff Leigh Brackett, Annie Brackett, Lynda Van Der Klok, and Bob Simms to partake as a “survivor.”
“This 1 vs Many game by renowned designer Emerson Matsuuchi is the first time the original Halloween movie has been made into its own board game,” the company explains. In Halloween: A Hidden Movement Game, “It was the night HE came home… and one player must take on the role of Michael Myers! The others will control Laurie and her friends as they scramble to find weapons, the kids, and a way to escape. Their task will be made more difficult because Myers can only be seen when you’re looking right at him!”
Billed as the first of its kind in horror merchandising, the game features illustrations from long-time Scream Factory collaborator Nathan Thomas Milliner, and was announced alongside a companion game for Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
If you’re curious, you can order now from the Trick or Treat Studios website and expect your game by early August… in plenty of time for Halloween.
