The Long Dark hit PS4 consoles today, 1st August, and the news now comes that Resident Evil producer, Jeremy Bolt, is to develop a live-action film adaptation of the game. Originally funded back in 2014, The Long Dark is a first-person post-apocalyptic survival game that follows a crash-landed pilot as he struggles to survive. Players must keep the pilot alive for as long as possible as they scavenge for food and resources.
Bolt has teamed up with Hinterland Studio, who have created a 5-minute short film that will give audiences – and Long Dark games – a chance to see what the film proposes to offer. Check it out below. The short stars Christopher Plummer and showcases the film’s potentially dark tone and unsettling edge, as the survivor wanders around a solitary world.
Described as a visual poem, it looks to be a combination of The Road and I Am Legend. It’s a stunning 5 minutes, so we look forward to seeing the full-length adaptation soon!
