Still the most streamed series in Netflix history, audiences are eagerly awaiting the second season of the Tim Burton-produced Addams Family update Wednesday.
Now we’ve been given our first hit of what’s in store, with star Jenna Ortega promising a much greater focus on the horror elements the first season received acclaim for. Ortega also elaborates on the status of the second season, which is currently due to shoot in the fall, and if she felt any pressure when given a role with such a legacy behind it.
“It’s still coming together, but we’ve decided we want to lean into the horror more. We’re ditching any romantic love interest, which is really great. We’re going to get bolder, more dark.”
“With a character like Wednesday, who is so beloved, I didn’t want to get her wrong. So I tried to have as many conversations as possible with the writers. We’d decide what works and what doesn’t. In preparation for a second season, we wanted to make sure that we could start the conversations earlier. I’m just so curious: I want to see the outfits, new characters, scripts.”
Expected to premiere next summer, Wednesday Season 2 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated television events in recent years, and we will be on the lookout for any developments that add to the hype.
