It seems the world just can’t get enough of Jenna Ortega!
News has been abounding this past week that the actress is “in talks” to star in the long-awaited Beetlejuice 2, a sequel to Tim Burton’s 1989 classic.
The Hollywood Reporter claims “multiple sources” are linking Ortega to the project but that a deal has yet to be reached due to the film having no set budget yet. If true, it is claimed that Ortega will portray the daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia, who led the original film.
Whilst a lot is still up in the air, Beetlejuice 2 will reportedly film in London in either May or June of 2023 and the returns of director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton have already been confirmed. Ortega’s reps and Warner Bros. are remaining tight-lipped on both her involvement and the potential return of Ryder.
Jenna Ortega has steadily carved out a path that has seen her rise to the top of the Hollywood A-list and become one of today’s most recognisable modern Scream Queens. With starring turns in The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Ti West’s X, 2022’s Scream and its 2023 sequel Scream VI, Ortega has become a fan favourite in a very short time. Her profile reached stratospheric heights when Netflix chose the actress to helm the wildly popular Addams Family spin-off Wednesday.
With such a wealth of genre work, Beetlejuice 2 seems perfect for Ortega and will no doubt only serve to boost her profile further.
