Unbelievably, Dead by Daylight has been dominating the horror multiplayer world for almost ten years.
In that time, the game has amassed an incredible 60 million players, with at least a half million gamers active every day.
Alongside their own custom-made killers, Dead by Daylight has also had the incredible fortune to have many iconic horror villains licensed to them.
These include the likes of Michael Myers, Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Ghostface, and even the Xenomorph.
However, one legendary horror villain has remained absent, due to a messy rights battle… Until now…
It has been confirmed by Behaviour Interactive that a deal has been struck with A24 and Jason Universe to bring Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees to Dead by Daylight.
A new playable map is expected to arrive with Jason, who also goes via the name The Slasher in the DBD universe.
Multiple expansion packs are also expected to debut with the character, which include various outfits and weapons to add to Jason’s killing spree.
As with every villain in the Dead by Daylight roster, Jason will also come with his own special ability. Ever wondered how he can seemingly appear anywhere at any time? Well wonder no more, as Omnipresent Evil mode reveals his secret.
This ability will see Jason completely disappear from the map, becoming invisible to fellow players until the time is right to strike.
Jason’s arrival to Dead by Daylight is the perfect way for Behaviour Interactive to mark a brilliantly successful ten years at the top. In fact, the character has already become the most pre-ordered skin in the game’s history.
Jason will make his debut on June 16th 2026, coinciding with 10 years of Dead by Daylight.
The expansion pack is available for pre-order now, and Dead by Daylight can be played via PC on Steam, or on consoles including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One
More Jason Universe news is expected soon as their multi-platform expansion for the IP continues. So, watch this space!
