The dust has barely settled since the release of the (not-so) Final Chapter of the Resident Evil franchise, but reports are already coming in about a possible reboot of the franchise. Even though we’ve just completed a long journey with Alice, it’s no surprise to see that Constantin Film wants more. The franchise is the highest-grossing franchise based on a video game, having made $1.2 billion worldwide.
It was announced at Cannes Film Festival that Constantin plans another 6-film series based on the Resident Evil video games, but it looks unlikely that Paul W. S. Anderson will be returning. As if he’d want to do all that again!
It has been confirmed, however, that James Wan has joined the project as a producer, suggesting that the film will deviate from the action-packed tone of the previous RE films and take a new, more terrifying direction. That being said, Wan directed Fast 6, so he’s no stranger to pure action cinema, either.
Who would you like to see direct? Should Milla Jovovich return to play Alice or do we need new blood? Watch this space!
