RLJE Films is geared up to release Benjamin Brewer’s dystopian creature feature Arcadian exclusively in cinemas this Friday, April 12.
Helmed by Brewer, from a screenplay writer by Michael Nilon, the film centres on Paul (Cage), and his twin teenage sons, Thomas and Joshua (Maxwell Jenkins and Jaeden Martell, respectively). Together the family holes up in their remote farmhouse, barricading themselves against the sinister forces that emerge after dark ever since a mysterious apocalyptic event. When Thomas goes missing after dark one day, Paul must venture beyond the safety of their fortified farm on a perilous quest to find him. What follows is a nightmarish battle that will push the family to their limits.
In advance of tomorrow’s release, SCREAM sat down with Jenkins and Martell to discuss how they approached playing siblings who share significant screen time with the mysterious and ominous creatures. Both actors went on to sing the praises of their co-star Nicolas Cage, who plays the father figure in the film, describing how his veteran experience and charisma enhanced their own performances and helped ground the familial relationships.
