Andres Muschietti’s It adaptation seems to have provided a nice career launchpad for its young stars and best of all, most of them are sticking (for now) with genre fare. Orion Pictures’ upcoming horror Descendant is getting in on the game, having just cast Jackson Robert Scott, who played ill-fated young Georgie Denbrough in Muschietti’s hit film.
Supposedly inspired by the likes of The Omen and Bad Seed, Descendant will star Orange is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling as a mother who grows increasingly concerned about her young son’s (Scott) disturbing behaviour, suspecting that something supernatural is affecting him.
The Pact helmer Nicholas McCarthy will direct the film, which is due to begin production this month in Toronto. The script was penned by Jeff Buhler, who wrote The Midnight Meat Train, and is also currently working on the fresh adaptation of Pet Sematary and a remake of Jacob’s Ladder.
