Last year we shared the trailer for AMC’s upcoming supernatural series Preacher, which is based on the comic of the same name created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. So far, we have Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga and Joseph Gilgun as key characters in the show, but it has now been announced that Jackie Earle Haley will, also, be playing a significant part. You may, sadly, remember Haley as 2010’s Freddy Krueger, but he has since starred in Dark Shadows and RoboCop.
Synopsis:
Preacher revolves around Rev. Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a badass Texas preacher who, after losing his faith, learns that God has left heaven and forsaken his duties. Jesse becomes the only one who is able to track God down and hold him responsible for his abdication. Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga), Jesse’s beer-guzzling vampire ex-girlfriend, accompanies him on his quest for answers.
Haley is set to play Odin Quincannon who is described as the most powerful man in Annville County. If the series sticks to the story of the comic, then Odin will be a member of the KKK who has frequent clashes with Jesse Custer. However, Jesse typically comes out of these clashes as the stronger man, causing Odin to vent his frustrations in to ruining the town instead.
Refresh your memory and give the trailer for Preacher a watch below; there is a lot of darkness brewing below the surface that is just waiting to explode in to the scorching Texas heat. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will be directing the pilot episode of Preacher which is set to air on AMC in mid-2016.
