The Cloverfield Paradox was a massive disappointment for many. It was a lazy excuse for a Cloverfield film and its connection to the franchise was flimsy. Even as a standalone sci-fi feature it would have been generic and dull. Rant over.
Alas, I’m not losing hope in the franchise and am still excited to see the next addition later this year. Titled Overlord, the film is set on the eve of D-Day and will follow a group of American paratroppers as they realise a Nazi-occupied village may have more going on than meets the eye.
J. J. Abrams has spoken about the film and has praised director Julius Avery:
“Overlord … first of all it’s something that I can’t wait for you to see cause the director, Julius Avery, has done an amazing job on it. But the specifics, you know, we should wait and see. But that’s really a crazy movie.”
Crazy good? We hope so.
Only time will tell so be sure to catch Overlord this Halloween when it is released on 26th October 2018.
