The director of the heart-breaking horror Tigers Are Not Afraid has signed up to direct her next project and it’s a supernatural revenge thriller. Lopez will direct the film for Legendary.
Details are sparse and the film is currently without a title or logline. Aside from the genre information, we do know that it will be “rooted in Mexican cultural lore”, and that’s not a surprise.
Tigers Are Not Afraid took last year’s FrightFest by storm and I left the festival with it being my favourite. It still resonates to this day and is a wonderful example of a horror film that can effortlessly weave in societal and political commentary, but remain to be very creepy. I do urge you to check it out if you can.
