Slender Man has easily become one of the most identifiable sinister figures of the last fifteen years. Beginning as a creepypasta, the faceless man’s story soon evolved into myth and then legend.
In 2012, a media franchise began with the survival-horror game Slender: The Eight Pages. Wildly successful on PC, the game was expanded and enhanced to be released as Slender: The Arrival to consoles the following year.
It’s now been a decade, and aside from a (questionable) film adaption in 2018, the franchise has been largely silent. However, is that all about to change?
As of June 23rd, a 34-day counter has begun ticking down on the official website for Slender: The Arrival, promising something will happen on July 27th 2023. Accompanying the countdown was the release of a 14-second teaser clip to both the Slender Steam page and developer Blue Isle’s YouTube channel.
Titled simply “He’s Waiting…” the short clip focuses on a zombie-like figure stood at the base of a stairway, staring into the camera. Slender Man is nowhere in sight, but it’s enough to recapture that familiar Slender vibe and his presence can surely be felt.
So, what does all this mean? Well, there’s something coming… What or who that is has fans wild with speculation, hoping the Slender chronicles aren’t finished yet. We will report the results of the July 27th reveal, and you can check out the brief teaser below:
