Byte is a modern horror film about a group of college friends who discover a mysterious smartphone app on Halloween night that claims it can turn users into werewolves. After Jett (Marshall Vargas) downloads the Byte app, a vial of blood is delivered to him, and the app instructs the group to perform a ritual in a graveyard under a full moon. Soon after, savage animal-like attacks begin terrorising their Ohio town, forcing April (Kaden Bryce), Nora (Carlie Allen), and their friends to question whether the ritual truly worked — and whether Jett has become something monstrous.
As the body count rises, the truth behind the app is revealed: it was created by Professor Rader (the late Bill Schroeder), a grieving scientist driven by revenge after the death of his child, with Professor Grey (Debbie Scaletta) tied to the research surrounding the experiment. Blending classic werewolf mythology with modern tech horror, Byte has earned strong praise within the genre community — horror critic Scott Geiter says he absolutely loved the film, comparing it to Silver Bullet, while Horror Society awarded it a 9/10, cementing Byte as a standout indie werewolf feature with old-school bite and modern edge.
