Further to our interview with Kaitlyn Bernard and Brenna Llewellyn, the lead actresses in the psychological shocker, The Sinners, we were also able to discuss the film’s themes and relevance with writer/director Courtney Paige.
Her risky, genre-bending psychological thriller that addresses themes which she believes are more than worth taking risks for, follows seven girls from a religious town who decide to rebel by starting a clique in which each member embodies one of the seven deadly sins. Grace Carver (Kaitlyn Bernard), the town pastor’s daughter and cult’s leader, decides to take the group’s sins to the next level by employing scare tactics to teach one of the betraying members a lesson. To everyone’s surprise though, when the turncoat in question disappears without a trace, the remaining clique members start going missing one by one with everyone still alive becoming a prime suspect, or worse yet, a victim.
With The Sinners releasing On Demand this February 19, SCREAM sat down with Paige who revealed how she feels this is a relatable and a unique tale that explores the seven deadly sins in a way no other characters have embodied them before.
