According to reliable sources, including Blumhouse’s official Instagram page, Insidious 6 has wrapped filming.
It’s been a bumpy ride to completion for the sixth entry, coming off the enormous success of 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door. Although the studio was eager to immediately follow up the franchise high, things weren’t quite ready, resulting in the sixth entry being postponed multiple times.
However, now filming has officially concluded, wrapping up a two-month shoot that took place in Melbourne, Australia.
Franchise star Lin Shaye will reprise her role as Elise Renier for the sixth entry. However, given that the character has been dead since the second instalment, it has led to many asking if this will once again be another prequel.
Although plot details are thin, we’re told Insidious 6 will follow “a frazzled single mother with the ability to astral project. Her ability reaches terrifying new heights after inheriting a house from her late mother.”
The Haunting of Bly Manor actress Amelia Eve is aboard as the aforementioned mother, with cast-mates including Brandon Perea, Sam Spruell, and Laura Gordon.
First-time filmmaker Jacob Chase undertook directing duties on the sixth instalment, as well as co-writing the script with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
Insidious 6 is expected to release via Sony Pictures on August 21 2026.
We’ll keep an eye out for any further Insidious updates, including if that long-awaited spin-off film is set to materialise. Stay tuned.
