With filming underway in Australia, and a major legacy start “close” to joining the cast, we didn’t think we could get anymore excited for Sony Pictures I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel…
Thankfully, we were wrong!
In the first post to their official Instagram account, the team uploaded our first eerie look at the on-set shenanigans. To say the sneak peek has Last Summer fans excited would be a huge understatement, as it seems to have lit an even bigger fire under the project.
In the atmospheric blue-tinged image, we see the clapboard for Last Summer, right next to the series’ infamous gaffing hook. Of course, this was the weapon of choice for the franchise’s primary villain, psychotic fisherman Ben Willis.
Whilst we don’t expect Willis to return in the legacy sequel, the social media post seems to confirm that whoever is responsible for the bloodshed will be borrowing the fisherman’s iconic garb.
The new image comes just a week after legacy star Jennifer Love Hewitt confirmed she was “close” to signing on and reprising her role as heroine Julie James. Although filming has already begun, the actress noted that scheduling conflicts prevented her from inking her deal just yet. However, Hewitt noted that she remains “hopeful” about a return and expects to sign soon.
Coming from Do Revenge filmmaker Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the Last Summer sequel has already secured legacy cast member Freddie Prinze Jr. Alongside Prinze Jr, an exciting cast of young up-and-coming stars has been assembled. Actors attached include Nicholas Alexander-Chavez, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, and Jonah Hauer-King.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is currently slated to hit screens on July 18th 2025. We’ll be on the lookout for any further updates until then.
