Hulu was previously developing Clive Barker’s Books of Blood as a TV series, but plans have changed. The on-demand video service is now creating a Books of Blood feature film anthology that will premiere as part of its “Huluween” celebrations this October.
Brannon Braga (The Orville) is directing, executive producing, and co-writing the film alongside Adam Simon (The Haunting in Connecticut). Based on a short story by Barker with contributing original material, the anthology will feature three tales tangled in space and time that take viewers on a journey into uncharted and forbidden territory.
Barker’s Books of Blood consist of six volumes of short horror stories published between 1984 and 1985. The previously announced cast for the adaptation includes Andy McQueen (The Handmaid’s Tale), Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies), Freda Foh Shen (Ad Astra), Britt Robertson (Under the Dome), and Yul Vazquez (The Outsider).
Seth MacFarlane will executive produce.
