Hosting A Horror Movie Night? Here Are A Few Films To Consider Watching

Posted on: June 7th, 2022

Anything horror remains to be one of the indisputable kings of all forms of entertainment. And what can be better to get the adrenaline high than to watch a spooky film with your mates? Although the film industry churns out practically dozens of horror films every year, not every film can terrorise your guests just the right amount! Here are some films to help you make sure you choose it well and choose it right.

The Conjuring
James Wan released one of the biggest hits of supernatural horror in Hollywood in 2013. It practically swooped people off their feet. The plot revolves around paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine, who try to help a family out of a dark presence in their newly bought house. Not only is it a riveting story but is also filled with shocks and scary moments. It will have everyone squealing. Moreover, it is based on a true story and that makes it even more frightening!

Annabelle
Before The Conjuring comes the plot-line of Annabelle. Directed by John R. Leonetti and released in 2014, this film shows a satanic cult trying to use a couple’s beloved doll as a conduit for the strangest of dark magic. It is engaging and creepy as well as perfect to make you curl up into a ball with utter fear. Fun fact: the actual Annabelle raggedy doll is really a haunted artefact!

Halloween
The original film hit the screens in 1978. In it, escaped murder convict Michael Myers, after killing his sister, returns to his hometown and goes on a killing spree. There have been many sequels of this classic, each making your skin scrawl with their tense storytelling. Moreover, it’s become such a popular classic that it has inspired books, board games and online games like Rise of Dead.

The Nun
One of the scariest and most popular characters from the Conjuring universe is the nun that got its own film in 2018. As a matter of fact, the character was first introduced in The Conjuring 2. The Nun investigates the death of a young nun in Romania, coming across the most spine-chilling supernatural force. The film is daunting and has created a rather large fanbase in horror film lovers and rightfully so!

Insidious
Another one of James Wan’s creations is the series of Insidious that started in 2010. This storyline revolves around a family trying their best to fight off evil spirits that want to trap their child. In an attempt to prevent their child from getting carried away into The Further, the family deals with bone-chilling evil spirits. It is truly a worthy watch on fun nights with your friends.

Conclusion
Horror films remain to be a top favourite of all ages, and they make good companions for nights to spend with mates. The list of films above are some of the best hits of all time. What makes it even better is that some stories are intertwined, stringing a web of suspenseful and terrifying tales. So, the next time you host a movie night, you will be hosting possibly the most fun night of all. Make sure you remember this list!
