HEADS TO ROLL AGAIN? “SLEEPY HOLLOW” REBOOT ALLEGEDLY IN THE WORKS FROM PARAMOUNT

Posted on: May 2nd, 2024

Last year we reported that Paramount Pictures were “keen” to make horror a priority. With success from Smile and Scream to name only a few, they were in prime position to capitalise on it.

Now, it seems its all coming to fruition!

Sources close to the studio are reporting that they have signed a “first-look deal” with Pet Sematary: Bloodlines creator Lindsey Anderson Beer. Furthermore, the filmmaker is tapped to wrangle a new take on the famous headless horseman tale Sleepy Hollow.

This is just one more notch to Beer’s impressive roster of upcoming features that have made her “one to watch.” The filmmaker is also working on the 2025 Bambi reboot over at Disney, in addition to multiple other projects.

Little is currently known about Sleepy Hollow, despite the project being in gestation for over two years. However, Beer’s name becoming attached is a significant step forward, so hopefully things begin to move quickly.

Last we saw of Sleepy Hollow’s infamous horseman was the four-season run Fox had with their series of the same name. Despite initial success, viewership drastically fell off during the third season, something a fourth season retooling couldn’t save.

Before debuting on the small-screen, the last we’d heard of Sleepy Hollow was Tim Burton’s highly regarded adaption starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. Given that said movie is now 25 years old, isn’t it about time the Headless Horseman returned to theatres?

We’ll keep an eye out for any further updates.
