The hit slasher Happy Death Day has made a killing at the Box Office as it breezes past the $100m mark worldwide. The film joins the ranks of this horror year’s hits Split, It and Get Out, as well as past hit slashers like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Happy Death Day made a huge $26.5 million in the USA during its opening weekend, but has now grossed $55.5m and a further $44.6m internationally. That’s not all; it’s still yet to open in six more international markets, so the number is just going to go up.
Happy Death Day was made on a modest $4.8 million budget and followed Tree Gelbman as she wakes up on her birthday over and over again, only to be killed over and over again. In order to stop the fatal cycle, she has to solve the mystery of her own death.
Happy Death Day is a great flick; it’s tense and surprisingly scary, so we do encourage you to catch it if you can. The film will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and On Demand on 16th January 2018.
