It’s been a while since we heard any news on the proposed Halloween television series in the works at Miramax and Trancas International.

Last we heard, the project was “moving along nicely,” and assembling a creative team, following a heated bidding war for the rights. With Miramax the eventual victors against A24, the series was revealed to be a “creative reset,” using the 1978 original as a jumping-off point.

Since all that excitement, everything has gone silent.

However, a trusted source tells us that the property is at the centre of a new bidding war, this time between streaming services. We’re hearing that three networks are currently fighting it out for the right to broadcast the series.

In the mix, we allegedly have Starz, Hulu, and Peacock. Currently it is unknown who the frontrunner is, however Starz may have an advantage, as they were once Anchor Bay, who currently still own a piece of the Halloween rights.

What we’re also hearing is that the TV series may be a recalibration of Halloween Returns, a film set to go into production in 2015, before financial issues nixed the project. The script acted as a direct sequel to 1978’s Halloween, seeing Michael Myers escape death row to embark on another killing spree.

However, we currently have no confirmation on this, and are looking into it further.

So, whilst no official announcements have surfaced, it seems a Halloween television series is still very much in the works. We’ll be on the lookout for more tips, and report what we find.
