After almost 50 years in the public zeitgeist, one would think there aren’t many more accolades the Halloween franchise could collect.
After all, Halloween is already the longest running slasher franchise, has garnered almost a billion dollars worldwide, and received numerous award nominations… So, what else could they want?
Well, how about a Guinness World Record…?
Yes, that’s right! Unbelievably, the Halloween franchise has now entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
In a move to promote their new venture, Halloween: The Game, the minds behind the franchise called on fans to help achieve this feat.
Whilst premiering the first gameplay at the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Centre in Boston, Massachusetts, people were encouraged to turn up in droves dressed as Michael Myers.
So, whilst Gun Media, Compass International, and Illfonic debuted Halloween: The Game, 254 men, women, and children watched on, dressed as the infamous Shape. Now, the gathering is officially in the record books as The World’s Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Michael Myers.
Upon receiving the official Guinness plaque, Halloween posted to their official Instagram account:
“We did it! YOU did it! Thank you to everyone who helped make history today by showing up to set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Michael Myers! Thank you to Illfonic, Gun, Further Front, and all the fans who helped make today one that the world will always remember.”
Undoubtedly, this will result in fantastic promotion for Halloween: The Game, which is due to release on September 8th 2026. The game will include both multiplayer and single-player campaigns, and will be available on PS5, Xbox, and PC.
An exciting new chapter for the franchise, we’re curious to see how the game will go over with fans.
Congratulations to the Halloween franchise and everyone who took part in this unique world record.
