“In seeking life… I’ve created death.”
Although things have been kept carefully under wraps since filming concluded months ago, now Netflix have delivered the first teaser for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
Described by the filmmaker as his “dream” project, it appears Netflix has spared no expense in allowing del Toro to bring his vision to life.
Looking grander than any previous adaption, the brief teaser shows off impressive sets and stunning cinematography.
Concentrating on Oscar Isaac’s Victor Frankenstein, the teaser opts to keep most of his cast mates under wraps. However, we do see a brief glimpse of Scream Queen Mia Goth as Elizabeth, looking glamorous in full period costume.
Similarly, the teaser keeps Frankenstein’s twisted creation hidden, even as it wreaks havoc on the good ship Prometheus. However, after disposing of multiple passengers, we hear the cloaked figure bellow his creator’s name.
Seeking to be the most faithful adaption of Mary Shelley’s book to date, we’ll have to wait for another teaser before we can make a judgement on if del Toro has succeeded. However, he has undoubtedly crafted a striking looking movie, but will it be popular with viewers?
Frankenstein also stars Jacob Elordi, Christoph Waltz, Lars Mikkelsen, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Ralph Ineson.
The movie will premiere on Netflix in November 2025; however, an exact date hasn’t yet been issued. We’ll let you know as soon as that changes.
