Imagine living the same day over and over, but then imagine living the same day you die over and over. It’s Groundhog Day for dying and that’s the concept for Universal and Blumhouse’s upcoming slasher-horror Happy Death Day.
We have a couple of short and sweet teasers for you and you can check them out below. They show a woman waking on the day of her birthday over and over, while an unidentified person in a mask tries to put an end to her life.
The teasers drum up enough mystery to entice us to see the film, but with a title like Happy Death Day, we’re hoping the film won’t take itself too seriously. There’s plenty of room for some comedic tongue-in-cheek horror and if Happy Death Day can strike this balance and still maintain suspense and tension, it could be another Blumhouse gem.
Happy Death Day comes from writer-director Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and has a script written by Landon and Scott Lobdell. Lobdell is most widely known for his work on Marvel’s X-Men series, including Generation X and Uncanny X-Men.
Happy Death Day will be released on 13th October 2017, so just in time for Halloween.
