Greg Lamberson’s Johnny Gruesome Revealed in New Poster

Posted on: March 7th, 2017

Red Hill Movies LLC has put out the first poster for Johnny Gruesome, the latest horror trip from cult filmmaker Gregory Lamberson. Lamberson, who made his decidedly icky mark on the genre with no-budget ‘melt movie’ classic Slime City in 1988, wrote and directed the film based on his award-winning 2008 novel.

It tells of high school student Eric Carter, who begins to suspect that his murdered best friend, Johnny Grissom has returned from the grave to exact revenge on his killers. In his feature debut, Byron Brown II plays Eric, with Anthony De La Torre (Lords of Chaos) as Johnny. Singer-songwriter Aprilann plays Johnny’s girlfriend Karen, with Michael DeLorenzo (Phantoms, A Few Good Men) as his grief-stricken father.

The film represents a long-gestating passion project for Lamberson (whose other films include Slime City Massacre and Killer Rack), with the novel itself based on his own, unproduced 1984 screenplay. Lamberson also co-produced Johnny Gruesome with Tamar Lamberson and John R. Renna, who has a role in the film.

The poster shows Anthony De La Torre in full make-up, and uses the original Johnny Gruesome logo designed by Eric Mache back in 1987. The film is currently approaching the end of post-production.
