“He’s coming…”

After debuting exclusively in theatres on June 18th, the first trailer for Robert Eggers Nosferatu remake dropped online this past week.

Expertly keeping the mystery alive, the short clip is careful not to show us anything of Bill Skarsgard’s sinister Count Orlok. Just as the actor is about to turn around and reveal himself, the clip ends, giving us only a glimpse of his hulking silhouette from behind.

Skarsgard has promised fans will not recognise him in the part, as he went to great lengths to alter his classically handsome visage. This included five hours of make-up, weight-loss, and vocal training to enable a deeper tone from the actor.

Elsewhere, the Nosferatu trailer promises plenty of atmosphere, as the period setting is shrouded in fog. Night scenes are cast in a sinister blue glow, and there is a genuine sense of dread permeating the town.

We get a decent look at our supporting cast, including a barely recognisable Willem Dafoe, and some wonderful hysterics from Lily-Rose Depp.

One thing’s for sure, something evil is about to descend on these poor people, and they’re all-too-aware of the threat looming over them.

Eggers’ remake of the 1922 classic will premiere on Christmas Day 2024, and co-stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicholas Hoult, and Ralph Ineson.
