Those looking forward to the next Goosebumps outing will have a few weeks longer to wait for the sequel to the hit 2015 film, with the release date having been pushed back from September 21st, 2018 to a slightly more Halloween-friendly October 12th.
The film – which at present is being referred to only as Goosebumps 2 – will see Ari Sandel (who won an Oscar in 2007 for his short West Bank Story) taking the directorial reins from Rob Letterman. Plot details are being kept under wraps, although there is speculation that the sequel will feature the return of Slappy the dummy.
While Jack Black is reportedly returning as author R.L. Stine, word is that two different screenplays are currently being considered, one which allegedly does not feature the character.
Meanwhile, in other R.L. Stine news, several films based on the (real life) author’s Fear Street books are currently in development at 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.
