Just last week we speculated that updates on the slasher sequel Scream 7 would emerge rapidly, following some high-profile casting news. It appears we were right on the money, as another up-and-coming name has been added to the cast, Ghostbusters alum Celeste O’Connor.
Primarily known for their role of Lucky Domingo, part of the newest generation of Ghostbusters, O’Conner also brings some genre experience to Scream 7 following her supporting role in 2020’s Freaky.
News of O’Connor’s casting comes just weeks after 1883 and Young Sheldon actress Isabel May was announced to star as Tatum Kincaid, the daughter of franchise lead Sidney Prescott.
It is unknown what role Celeste O’Conner will undertake, but a reliable source tells us they will join May as part of a new generation of teens.
With filming expected to begin in January 2025, Scream 7 finally looks to be underway following a turbulent pre-production period. The project was feared doomed following the firing of lead actress Melissa Barrera, swiftly followed by the exits of co-star Jenna Ortega and director Christopher Landon.
Following the upheaval. Scream 7 was given a “creative reset,” with series star Neve Campbell taking on the role of Sidney Prescott once more. Campbell was absent from 2023’s Scream VI following a salary dispute, but will return in a starring capacity with Scream 7.
Other names linked to the project include legacy actors Courteney Cox and Patrick Dempsey, as well as British actor Cassian Bilton. However, none have been confirmed to officially join Scream 7 yet.
Scream creator Kevin Williamson will direct the seventh entry, with filming expected to take place in Atlanta, Georgia in the coming weeks.
With Scream 7 rapidly gaining momentum, we’ll be watching closely for any further updates.
