It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

To that end Sony Pictures have decided it’s the perfect time to release the first poster for their upcoming winter-themed sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Certainly living up to that title, the poster very much apes the 2021 poster for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. However, this time, instead of being stopped before a huge sinister vortex, the iconic Ghostbusters vehicle is parked in a frozen solid New York as a gooey looking monster emerges from the frost.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will see the series return to New York with its original cast for the first time since 1991’s Ghostbusters II, something that has gotten series fans unbelievably excited. Attempts were made to keep this fact secret until the film’s promotional material began to drop, but fans immediately figured it out upon hearing the project’s working title was “Firehouse.”

The film will see New York City frozen solid in the peak of summer by a vengeful force called “The Death Chill.” Only one group of people can help, now with more members than ever before.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will see Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, and Carrie Coon all reprise their roles from 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, this time trying their hand at ghost-busting where it all began. They will be joined by legacy cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and William Atherton.

Unfortunately, Sigourney Weaver will not return as Dana Barrett, with the actress commenting this past summer that she simply wasn’t asked. Given the already-heaving cast roster, it’s understandable that not everyone could fit in, but fans will miss Weaver.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will premiere on March 29th 2024, and if you just can’t wait that long, feel free to revisit the trailer below!
