David Lowery has secretly made a horror-drama with stars Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck, who last performed together on Lowery’s indie hit Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. Lowery’s next film was supposed to be The Old Man and the Gun which also stars Affleck and marks the last role of veteran actor Robert Redford. However, in between his family hit Pete’s Dragon and the aforementioned, the director has put together the aptly titled A Ghost Story.
There are currently no plot details for the film, but we can imagine the story is going to revolve around a haunting. When speaking about the film, Lowery said: “I had the urge to just go make something spontaneously, like I used to do. I would have an idea and go make it, either a short film or an experimental idea. Over the past few years I stopped doing that as much, and I really wanted to get back in the habit of getting some friends together and shooting something.”
A Ghost Story has been chosen to make its debut at the next Sundance Film Festival, so we are expecting some more information about the film with Sundance’s line-up is revealed later this month.
