Horror does well in the Independent Spirit Awards 2018 with nominations for Get Out, A Ghost Story and The Transfiguration. Get Out leads the horror nominations with an impressive 5: Best Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Male Lead. The Transfiguration and A Ghost Story landed 1 nomination each for the John Cassavetes Award.
All the films have tough competition and are up against Life and Nothing More, Lady Bird, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, Call Me By Your Name and The Florida Project. It’d be great to see Get Out do well; nabbing the role for Best Feature would certainly raise a few eyebrows, but would be a great step for our favourite genre.
The 33rd Independent Spirit Awards will air on 3rd March 2018.
