To accompany the announcement that biopic-of-sorts My Friend Dahmer will be released in November, FilmRise have put out this new trailer for the acclaimed film, which was based upon the graphic novel by John Backderf (aka Derf). The comic tells of the author’s high school friendship with future serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Directed by Marc Meyers, the film chronicles the difficult teenage years of Dahmer, and how they set him on a path to becoming one of America’s most notorious killers. An outsider and a loner, the teenage Dahmer conducts grisly experiments in his back yard, but his increasingly odd behaviour unexpectedly starts to find him some friends.
Disney Channel alum Ross Lynch plays Dahmer, alongside Mad Men’s Vincent Kartheiser, Anne Heche (I Know What You Did Last Summer, 1998’s Psycho), Dallas Roberts (The Walking Dead, 3:10 to Yuma) and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’s Alex Wolff.
Also referred to as The Milwaukee Cannibal, Dahmer killed and dismembered 17 men and boys in Wisconsin between 1978 and 1991, preserving and cannibalising a number of the body parts.
My Friend Dahmer opens in the US on November 3rd.
