This news is not surprising, because CW axed the project back in April, stating they’d be revisiting it again later in 2017. However, at the Television Critics Association it has been announced the series is dead in the water. On Twitter, The Wrap’s Linda Ge reported, “Friday the 13th/ Crystal Lake Series is Dead #TCA2016”. So, there it is.
We still have the remake/reboot to come – which is totally not an origin story – from writer Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) and potential director Breck Eisner to come, so we’ll get a Voorhees fix at some point. Perhaps another service will pick up the series and bring it to life; we think it would definitely have a happy on home on Netflix where wonderful horror TV shows like Scream, Stranger Things, The Returned and Hemlock Grove have found a place to live with fans that adore them.
