We previously spoke about The Forest of the Lost Souls back in 2015 and we had begun to think the film had disappeared completely, or perhaps was a mere figment of our imaginations. Alas, the film lives, because a premiere date has finally been announced and set for 27th May at the Triple Six Festival.
Synopsis:
Two strangers meet by chance in ‘the forest of lost souls’, a gloomy, isolated backwater where people go to commit suicide. As they journey into the trees together, the unlikely pair bond over their personal stories of desolation. Once they reach their destination, however, it becomes clear that one has a much more violent reason for being there.
Described as a “coming-of-age slasher” and from its unnerving trailer, it seems as though The Forest of the Lost Souls is going to be as bizarre and unique as that genre combination would suggest. Shot entirely in black and white, without any dialogue and featuring a jarring tonal shift half-way through, the trailer is short, strange and surprisingly compelling.
Remind yourselves of the beautifully bizarre trailer below.
