We’ve been hearing about a Five Nights at Freddy’s film adaptation for some time now, and it seems like the project is finally coming to life. Producer Jason Blum shared some exciting updates about the film on Twitter recently, including announcing its director: Emma Tammi (The Wind)!
Blum also revealed that filming is slated to begin in February 2023. What’s more, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is working on the animatronics that are central to the story!
In the original Five Nights at Freddy video game, players take on the role of a security guard hired to work overnight at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a Chuck E. Cheese-inspired pizza restaurant involving animatronic characters. Unfortunately, these characters come to life at night and stalk the hapless guard.
Warner Bros. acquired the rights to Five Nights at Freddy’s way back in 2015. Blumhouse is producing the film adaptation, with the game’s creator, Scott Cawthon, also on board to produce.
