“You can bring demons back to the living world… Permanently.”
We’ve heard so little about the sixth Insidious instalment, with all involved determined to keep the mystery. However, it appears the time has come for the hype train to roll out, as we’ve been gifted with the first trailer.
Starting off suitably eerily, the clip introduces us to Gemma, a single mother and a busy dentist. As if going to the dentist isn’t uncomfortable enough… Gemma’s patient happens to be a sinister spirit.
Besieged by what she believes are simply bad dreams, things grow worse for Gemma as visions begin to invade her waking world.
However, what she’s seeing aren’t visions, but very real sinister entities. Gemma has an ability above astral projection, one that puts herself and her daughter in mortal danger.
After closing out the saga of the Lambert family, audiences were curious to know how the franchise would raise the stakes when pivoting away from their central plotline. Now we know! The spirits are set to break free from The Further and invade the land of the living.
Insidious: Out of the Further comes to us from Jacob Chase, who makes his feature debut with this sequel, as well as penning the script.
Amelia Eve stars as Gemma, with additional cast members including Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Lin Shaye reprising her role as Elise Rainier.
The movie is expected to hit screens on August 21 2026 via Sony Pictures, having previously been scheduled for a 2024 release.
Coming in the wake of the most successful entry in the Insidious franchise, we’re undeniably curious to see how Out of the Further performs at the box-office.
