October is rapidly approaching, and we’ve received exciting news from San Diego Comic-Con regarding Mike Flanagan’s Carrie adaption.
It has been confirmed that the Amazon original series will debut on October 7th 2026.
Alongside the release date confirmation, we got our first teaser for the show.
In the brief clip, we are introduced to Summer H. Howell in the titular role. We get a lot of quick glimpses of moments that will seem familiar to any Carrie fan, including a harrowing scene in a school shower.
However, what the teaser seems to suggest is different about Flanagan’s interpretation is the framing device used over the clip.
Howell provides a narration over the teaser, suggesting that Carrie White is the victim of a targeted campaign of betrayal. Talking directly to someone she considered a friend; Carrie begs to know why she’s been treated so unfairly.
Of course, this is a new approach, as the character has previously always been treated as an outsider from the beginning, never welcomed into a social circle.
Dealing with the very relevant themes of internet harassment and social marginalisation, Flanagan seems to have successfully reinvented Stephen King’s tale for a modern audience.
However, the real proof will come upon the show’s premiere on October 7th, so we’ll let you know how it goes over with audiences.
