We’re about to find out how one of the most prolific horror legacies began… and we couldn’t be more excited.
Although many feared it would never happen due to lingering rights battles, Friday the 13th is back!
The first teaser for A24 and Peacock’s Crystal Lake television prequel has landed, giving us a look at what’s in store.
Despite being brief, we get a look at several intriguing moments.
The clip introduces us to Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, a struggling single mother to her disabled son Jason. We see Pamela at the hospital, looking over her newborn, seemingly devastated.
We also see Cardellini thrashing around in Crystal Lake, as she tries to save her son from drowning.
Of course, this is from the world of Friday the 13th, so things soon get gory. We get quick glimpses of Pamela’s brutal vengeance mission, eventually seeing the character covered in blood. We also see some classic Friday-style shots stalking through the woods.
Capturing the period vibe perfectly, as well as the comforting summer camp feel, Crystal Lake shows great potential as a Friday the 13th prequel.
The series comes to us from showrunner and creator Brad Caleb Kane, and co-stars Callum Vinson, Cameron Scoggins, and William Catlett.
Alongside the teaser, we’ve also gotten the news that all eight episodes will be available to stream on Peacock October 15th. Previously, it was unknown if episodes would stream week-to-week or all at once.
The series will also be made available in the United Kingdom via Sky Atlantic and NowTV. However, it remains unknown if the European debut will coincide with the Peacock release.
